A Holistic Approach To Recovery and Prevention At Newburyport Wellness, LLC, I approach every client as a unique individual and develop a unique blend of hands on techniques and exercise/movement prescription to help individuals reach their goals. I am a physical therapist & women's health specialist who understands the many changes that occur in a female's body during the various stages of life. I guide clients to a state of living strong and free of pain. I work with people to help them understand how theirunique body works and how it has compensated for a lifetime to repetitive movement and injuries and chronic disease such as endometriosis. Common issues I address include: back pain, hip pain and pelvic pain that have been chronic despite previous physical therapy, urinary incontinence, and postpartum recovery related dysfunction including pain & diastasis recti.
Getting To the Core Of The Problem
My education and career as a physical therapist give me an extensive knowledge of the body. But at Newburyport Wellness, my methodology expands well beyond traditional physical therapy. I prefer a holistic, patient centered, hands-on approach to tackling the very personal issues that plague so many women. My focus is wellness for life and injury prevention! Most treatments focus on the inner core because the core is the center of so many vital functions including creating stability for movement, our fertility, digestion and breath.
The inner core involves the muscles deep to the outer abs we usually target with exercise. These muscles act as a central stability center for all movement. Proper breathing is critical to reducing pain, improving stability and successful resolution of many stubborn pain issues of the back, hip and pelvis.
The pelvic floor has a massive job. It holds in all of your organs and must work to stabilize the pelvis. Unfortunately, most of us have never been taught to think of our pelvic floors and how to get in working in harmony with breath. There are muscles that line the pelvic floor that attach to the hip. a problem in the hip may be related to the pelvic floor. As an inner core specialist, I help clients like you retrain your body and mind to execute optimal movement patterns. Through breath training, manual therapy, and specific exercise prescription, we will work together so that your inner core works in perfect harmony with the rest of your body.
